Books: Jaguar E-Type: A Celebration of the World’s Favourite ‘60s Icon
Probably no other car is more thought of as the iconic great car from the 1960’s than the Jaguar E-Type.
When it was introduced at the Geneva auto show in 1961 newspapers said of the E-Type:
- ‘The most wanted car in the world – it will be a winner everywhere.’ Daily Mail.
- ‘Driving the car is more like flying than motoring.’ Daily Telegraph.
- ‘WHAM! And you are doing 150 miles an hour – new Jaguar can beat the world.’ Daily Express Read the rest of this entry »
Test Drive: 2012 Jaguar XKR-S Coupe & Convertible
“Jaguar’s 2012 XKR-S Duo: The pinnacle of British exclusivity”
I would be willing to bet the Queen’s castle that Sir William Lyons never imagined that his automotive creation would reach the level of exclusivity and performance capability that is represented by the extremely limited production 2012 Jaguar XKR-S Coupe and Convertible. Only 25 XKR-S Convertibles were scheduled to come to market on our shores, but all sold out within one week of the debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, and the Coupe version, which was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show, and had an allocation of only 100 vehicles slated for the U.S. has already sold out as well. Fortunately, even though all of the 2012 examples have been sold, this special iconic sports car is a halo vehicle for Jaguar, and is scheduled for a three year production run at this point, so if you missed out this year, 2013 models will total 200 vehicles, with an even split between coupes and convertibles, and the 2014 production run is currently calling for 75 convertibles and 100 coupes to be built.
2013 Ford Fusion unveiled in Detroit
“2013 Ford Fusion: A global vision”
Detroit, MI – Ford Motor Company recently offered automotive journalists a sneak peek at several of their new products to be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit. The most impressive, and perhaps the most stunning, was the all-new, midsize Ford Fusion sedan, slated as a 2013 model year vehicle, which signals the next generation Ford Mondeo for the global marketplace. It is unquestionably the most beautiful Ford Fusion ever to be produced; showcasing the “New Face of Ford” look that will dominate and influence future Ford vehicles. Not only is it the most beautiful Fusion in history, it may well be the most alluring passenger car to be produced by Ford in recent years – okay, Mustang is another story.
Test Drive: 2012 Jaguar XJL SuperSport
“2012 Jaguar XJL Supersport Sedan: Sporty elegance”
Jaguar’s heritage has long been about producing beautiful vehicles, but with a purpose – elegant, striking, emotionally stirring designs, combined with spirited and capable performance. In essence, a bold yet luxurious, sporting vehicle with the heart of a racecar. In 2010, the XF model Jaguar lineup was introduced, adhering to all of the above mentioned qualities, and just when one began to feel that things couldn’t possibly be improved upon, suddenly it did, when the stunning all-new for 2011 form of the XJ series appeared on the scene.
Jaguar C-X16 Concept Highlights LA Show
Our favorite concept at the 2011 LA Auto Show had to be the Jaguar C-X16. Paying homage to one of the best designs of all time, the famous Jaguar XKE sports car, the new C-X16 takes the traditional front-engine, rear-wheel drive formula that Jaguar defined over the decades and reinvents it for the 21st Century in a performance-oriented hybrid drivetrain with 50:50 weight distribution.
“The C-X16 is our compelling vision for a 21st century Jaguar sports car. It embodies the established Jaguar strengths of sensual design, animal-like agility and inspirational performance and combines these with attributes that set us on a course to create sustainable sports cars of the future.” – Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars. Test Drive: 2011 Jaguar XK Coupe
There’s really nothing like a Jaguar for a road trip, and that’s what I did last week with the 2011 Jaguar XK Coupe. I had a wedding to attend about 250 miles away, and it was a good excuse for an overnight road trip.
The Jaguar XK comes in a coupe or convertible form, and you can also get the super-high performance XKR version in the coupe. But this was the “basic” big cat Jag, with just 385 horsepower from its 5.0-liter engine, mated to a 6-speed automatic. Perhaps the most amazing thing was that the XJ Coupe is rated at 16 MPG city and 24 MPG on the highway – there are a lot of V6 and even 4-cylinder cars that don’t do that well. Introducing the World’s Fastest Jaguar
New Jaguar XKR-S has Top Speed of 186 mph
Not only is the Jaguar XK one of the world’s best looking cars, with the addition of the new XKR-S variant, it’s one of the world’s fastest cars.
For the first time with a series production car, Jaguar gains entry to the exclusive ‘300 kph club’ (186mph) thanks to the reconfigured supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine. A revised fueling map means the direct-injection powerplant now produces 550hp and 502-lb.ft of torque. Extensive tuning has ensured that power delivery and performance are seamless, contributing to a 0-60mph time of 4.2 seconds. The active exhaust encourages and rewards the enthusiastic driver with dramatic, motorsport-inspired aural feedback. Read the rest of this entry »
