Encore – The Small Buick Luxury Crossover

Buick will expand its luxury lineup early in 2013 when they add  the all-new Encore luxury small crossover.

“Buick Encore is a great-looking, smart choice for those who want luxury crossover amenities in a more maneuverable and agile vehicle,” said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of Buick Marketing. “It represents a luxury alternative for a new audience of Buick customers, and delivers features and flexibility not typically found in vehicles of its size today.”

About the same size as an Audi A3 or a Scion xB, the Encore follows Buick’s global design language with sculpted and elegant styling traits – including sweeping character lines.  From first glance, there is no doubt that Encore looks like a Buick with features like the waterfall grille, chrome accents and surrounds, portholes on the hood and painted lower panels, similar to the Enclave. Test Ride: 2012 BMW K1600 GTL

“BMW intros their first inline six-cylinder motorcycle application”

BMW has long powered many of their 4-wheeled vehicles with an inline six-cylinder engine, particularly roadsters, so it seemed only prudent that the smoothness provided by such an engine configuration would be a natural application for a luxury touring motorcycle, since both share open air motoring experiences.

”Verano: Buick’s first compact luxury sedan”

Much more than simply an entry-level vehicle

New York City, NY – Buick’s all-new Verano is the brand’s third new model to bow within the last two years, and it’s also the first compact entry into the luxury market segment for the GM marque. It is the latest model to represent Buick’s product renaissance, which began with the Enclave crossover, and was followed by the new LaCrosse luxury sedan and the Regal Sport sedan.

Test Drive: 2012 Buick Regal GS

“Buick’s Regal GS: A midsize luxury performance sedan”

If you happen to have any preconceived notions about what a Buick was, is or should be, based upon past history and experiences, you might want to chuck them into oblivion. In the past, Buick was most often perceived to be a land yacht designed for driver in, or at least entering their Golden years. Only old folks drove Buicks, or so it seemed.

Test Drive: 2012 BMW 650i Coupe

“A sexy alternative for fixed roof types”

Should you happen to be a fan of open-air vehicles and would prefer to own nothing but a convertible, there’s no need for you to read further into this review. Instead, you should refer to my review of the 2012 BMW 650i Cabrio. This particular review is of the new 2012 BMW 650i Coupe, which comes with a base price that is $7,500 less than its droptop counterpart, but it is certainly no less sexy, and happens to share all of the same mechanicals and dimensions except for the weight (it’s 298 pounds lighter than the Cabrio) and height which is only 0.2-inches higher.

“The JX Concept advances the Infiniti design language, sharing design cues of the Infiniti Essence concept, yet interprets those elements in ways suitable to the needs of a family luxury crossover,” said Nakamura. “From the dramatic front grille and headlight design to the crescent-cut D-pillar and greenhouse shape, the JX Concept shines as a fresh, bold alternative to the many flavors of vanilla currently dominating the three-row luxury crossover segment.”  Read the rest of this entry »

LF-Gh Hints at Future Lexus Design

Making its global debut at the 2011 New York International Auto Show, the Lexus LF-Gh concept is a case study to the new Lexus look.

Test Drive: 2011 Jaguar XJL Supercharged Sedan

The new XJ Series represents an icon reimagined

Jaguar has long been about beauty with a purpose – elegant, striking, emotionally stirring designs, combined with spirited and capable performance. In essence, a bold yet luxurious, sporting vehicle with the heart of a racecar. Last year, the XF model Jaguar lineup was introduced, adhering to all of the above mentioned attributes, and just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, suddenly it has, in the stunning all-new 2011 form of the XJ series, which first appeared 42 years ago in 1968.

Test Drive: 2011 Porsche Panamera V6

Porsche introduces two new V6 powered models

When the Porsche Cayenne SUV was first introduced joining the ranks of the legendary German automaker, one who, had up to that point, specialized exclusively in the production of highly revered sports cars, I admit to entertaining no small degree of skepticism as a dyed-in-the-wool “Porsche-file”. So, you can imagine my initial reaction when I first heard of Porsche’s intent to produce a four-door sedan. Who needs a stretched Porsche 911 I questioned aloud? Initial photos were not particularly flattering either, which tended to bolster my disdain at the idea of producing such a vehicle.
